Electrocardiography (ECG) lead malposition

This peer reviewed article investigates the identifiable footprints revealed from various combinations of malpositioned 12-lead Electrocardiographic (EGC) Leads.

Method
The investigation used 10 normal subjects where 12-lead ECG were performed with

  • Normal lead position

  • Six limb lead malpositions; and  

  • Reversal of chest leads

Results
In all subjects, there was consistency in the ECGs performed allowing the creation of five characteristic and easily identifiable footprints.
